Daily Express: Anger at MPs' hols
LAVISH amounts of time off for MPs was criticised last night as the House of Commons prepared for its 11-week summer holiday.
Parliament starts its summer recess this afternoon and is not due to return until October 6, following the party conference season.
MPs earn nearly £62,000 a year and Mark Wallace, of the TaxPayers' Alliance, said: "Being an MP must be the only job where you can vote for your own salary and get a three-month summer break to go with it."
MPs insist much of their breaks are spent working. Tory leader David Cameron said: "Politics is a high intensity activity, so taking a decent break in one go is a good thing.
You make bad decisions if you're knackered."
