Andrew Allum, Chairman

Andrew_3Andrew Allum is the non-executive and unpaid Chairman of the TaxPayers' Alliance.  Together with Matthew, he has led the organisation since its launch in 2004, and over that time the TPA has grown from operating as a group of volunteers meeting in various coffee shops around London, to employing six members of staff working from offices in London and Birmingham.

Andrew was brought up in Warwickshire and moved to London in 1986 to study at Imperial College where he graduated with a First in Physics.  Andrew led the student Conservative groups both in Imperial College and across London and sat on the national committee of the student wing of the party.  After a Master's at Oxford and a slow year in Australia, Andrew returned to London in 1992 and he has lived and worked here ever since.

From 1998 to 2002 Andrew served as a Conservative member of Westminster City Council.  He left the party in 2003, having lost faith that it represented his brand of free market, individualist and compassionate politics.

Outside of political life, Andrew has been the Chairman of Governors of St George's Secondary School in Maida Vale for some years.  His full time job is as a Partner at a leading strategy consulting firm.
