The TaxPayers' Alliance acts as an 'umbrella group' to a number of like minded organisations committed to lower taxes.
Save Bathampton Meadows, NewbridgeMatters and Response2Route
Save Bathampton Meadows and Response2Route are two independent, grassroots campaigns protesting the Bath Bus Rapid Transit scheme (BRT). As a costly waste of money that will ruin the picturesque landscape as well as potentially leading to higher taxes, we have been campaigning with Response2Route and Save Bathampton Meadows against the BRT. In July 2009 they became Alliance members and we together managed to persuade Bath and North East Somerset Council's Development Control Committee to vote against the plans. Even though the DCC were asked to vote again, resulting in a tie, it showed how our combined grassroots efforts paid off. You can read the report here for more information. The No to the Bike Parking Tax Campaign
No To the Bike Parking Tax is a non-political action group representing motorcyclists and scooterists who object to illegitimate introduction of parking levies by Westminster City Council. Their mission is the total withdrawal of all parking taxes levied on motorcyclists and scooterists and a full refund of all fees paid to date by bikers who had no other option but to pay them. They officially became Alliance members in March 2009. You can join their campaign and find out how you can fight unfair motorcycle parking taxes here.
The Solihull Ratepayers Association
Solihull Ratepayers Association was founded in 1974 in response to a 93% increase in council rates following local government reorganisation at that time. The association played a major role in a national protest campaign, leading to central government funding a substantial rebate to those councils hardest hit, including Solihull.
Over the years the association has continued to act on behalf of the Solihull Community as an independant watchdog on the actions taken by the Solihull Council and other bodies who levy tax or other charges on the citizens of this borough. The Solihull Ratepayers Association became an Alliance member in February 2009. They can be contacted here.

The Surrey Tax Action Group (STAG), run by Peter Webb, was formed in 2003 following an exorbitant 18 per cent inflation-busting increase in council tax.
Tax Relief
Tax Relief champions individual taxpayers in their affairs with the Inland Revenue. They have had a number of successes in curbing aggressive and unwarranted intrusion into the private affairs of individual taxpayers.

The TaxPayers' Alliance is also proud to have worked alongside Isitfair, the coalition campaigning to replace the existing system of local government funding with one that takes into account the ability to pay. Isitfair do excellent work campaigning on the injustice of council tax and the misery it causes to individuals and families around the country.
